  • Pre-Emergent Crabgrass & Foxtail Control
  • Must be applied before the end of May

A fast acting application of fertilizer to start each spring off GREEN. This is the application with a pre-emergent that prevents over 30 grassy weeds like crabgrass and sand-burs. We eradicate over 40 different types of broadleaf weeds like dandelions, thistles, and clover with our Post-emergent Triple Protection weed control.

Early Summer Application

  • Balanced Fertilizer (Granular)
  • Dandelion & Broadleaf Weed Control

A long lasting slow release fertilizer will bridge the gap between April showers and the heat to come in summer. We treat any dandelions & other broadleaf weeds that may be migrating over from a neighbor’s yard.

Summer Application

  • Balanced Fertilizer (Granular)
  • Broadleaf Weed Control

A gentle slow release fertilizer to keep your lawn green through the hottest time of the year. We treat any broadleaf weeds.

Fall Application

  • Balanced Fertilizer (Liquid)
  • Dandelion & Broadleaf Weed Control
  • Great time to control weeds

Because the temperatures moderate, your lawn will experience a re-growth with our liquid fertilizer. We will also treat the late season weeds because fall is a great time to kill those weeds.

Winterization Application

  • Granular Application
  • Heavy rate of fertilizer applied mid-October.

With the cool temperatures of October we are able to feed your lawn with the heaviest fertilizer application of the year. This is the time of year when your lawn uses those nutrients to grow its root system and to store the food it needs for an early green up next spring.

Grub Control

Grub ControlGrubs naturally occur in lawns, but it’s identifying 2 or more in a square foot that determines an infestation, which usually occurs during the months of July and August. Brown spots appear in the lawn and the turf is easily lifted back, like carpet. Take a proactive approach with our Preventative Grub Control and prevent the damaging effects of grubs and other turf inhabiting pests by killing them at their egg stage BEFORE the damage occurs. We use a systemic insecticide that is applied to the lawn and is absorbed by the grass roots and distributed throughout the plant tissue for optimal defense. This insecticide will help protect your lawn from the damaging brown spots that grubs and other turf pests cause in the late summer months. It will be applied towards the end of May.

In situations where the Preventative Grub Control was not applied, and a grub infestation is identified, we can apply a different grub control to control the problem. It is a granular application that needs to be watered in heavily for best performance. It is labeled to kill, among other underground insects, grubs, sod webworms, and billbug larvae. Any grub damaged areas will likely need to be reseeded to become established again.

Lawn Aeration

Lawn AerationBy removing soil cores, aeration allows your lawn to breathe by providing a channel for fertilizer, water, and air to get down to the roots of your lawn encouraging deeper root growth. It also decreases water runoff and reduces thatch build up. The plugs then decompose naturally in a couple of weeks, also adding nutrients to the soil. Your lawn will be stimulated to grow new, more vigorous root systems, which will help prepare it for the inevitable stresses that come with our South Dakota climate.

Although aerations can also be performed during the early spring, we recommend and schedule them for the fall time only, when the temperatures are cool or begin to moderate. Soil must be moist to do the aeration. Sprinkler heads and sprinkler boxes need to be marked prior to the service. Aerations are not recommended for new sod or newly seeded lawns less than 2 years old.

Slit-SeedingDoes your lawn need a little help thickening up? Maybe it was a tough summer and you have some patches to fill in. Have your large shade trees thinned out your lawn over the years? Let us know if you need our help over-seeding these spots. Our slit-seeder machine will cut a channel into the dirt & drop the grass seed into that channel. This allows for a much better seed-to-soil contact, increasing your chances of germination. The cost is dependant on square footage. Give us a call today to get a price quote & to get on the schedule! NOTE: seeding should be done before the end of September for optimal growth.
