Lawn Health and Maintenance
Green 4 Ever services residential and commercial lawns in the Sioux Falls and Sioux City area. We provide a full professional lawn care program to get you the yard that will be envied. When you enroll in our program, you can sit back and enjoy your yard without worrying about buying the correct type of product, or knowing how much product you need and when to apply it.
Lawn Edging
What is the finishing touch that will give you the professional look you want? Proper edging of your property will enhance your lawn and give you excellent curb appeal. We recommend edgings to be done in the fall due to the decreased chance for weeds to sprout in newly exposed areas. A properly edged lawn also makes snow removal much easier. Make your lawn eye catching, get it EDGED! Note: Edgings can be done anytime.
Lawn Aeration
By removing soil cores, aeration allows your lawn to breathe and provides a channel for moisture and vital nutrients to get down to the roots of your lawn. It also decreases water runoff. It reduces thatch build up and allows fertilizer, water and air direct access to the root system to encourage deeper root growth. The plugs then decompose naturally in a couple of weeks, also adding nutrients to the soil. Your lawn will be stimulated to grow new, more vigorous root systems, which will help prepare it for the inevitable stresses that come with our South Dakota climate.
Aerations are performed during the early spring and fall when the temperatures are cool or begin to moderate. Soil must be moist to do the aeration. Sprinkler heads and sprinkler boxes need to be marked prior to the service. Aerations are not recommended for new sod or newly seeded lawns less than 2 years old.
Grub Control
Grubs naturally occur in lawns, but it's identifying 2 or more in a square foot that determines an infestation, which usually occurs during the month of August. Brown spots appear in the lawn and the turf is easily lifted back, like carpet. Take a proactive approach with our Preventative Grub Control and prevent the damaging effects of grubs and other turf inhabiting pests by killing them at their egg stage BEFORE the damage occurs. We use a systemic insecticide that is applied to the lawn and is absorbed by the grass roots and distributed throughout the plant tissue for optimal defense. This insecticide will help protect your lawn from the damaging brown spots that grubs and other turf pests cause in the late summer months. It will be applied towards the end of May.
In situations where the Preventative Grub Control was not applied, and a grub infestion is identified, we can apply a different grub control to control the problem. It is a granular application that needs to be watered in heavily for best performance. It is labeled to kill, among other underground insects, grubs, sod webworms, and billbug larvae. Previously infested areas will need to be reseeded to become established again.
